Today in math we discussed regular polygons (sides and angles are all equal) and irregular polygons (sides and angles are not equal).
In language arts, we began talking about a Japanese style of poetry called Tanka. We wrote a Tanka about butterflies as a class, and students started thinking of some ideas for their own!
In social studies, we started a unit about West Africa and expressions of culture. We watched some videos about Ghana, such as traditional music & dance, and traditional textiles. Ghana is a country that sits on the coast of West Africa. I brought in some examples of Ghanaian fabrics (Kenti cloth) and will send home a small sample for the students to keep tomorrow :)
